Take Care of Dad’s Honey-Do List this Father’s Day
By: Charlotte Barr

Short on ideas for father’s day gifts? How about surprising your husband or father by completing some home improvement projects either by calling in the pros or doing it yourself. Start with taking an hour of time to mow the lawn. Also, do not forget to nix those annoying weeds that taint your guy’s prideful lawn. Another idea is to tidy up the basement. Give him a working space to escape to. Designate an area for his tools by removing anything that is not remotely helpful for him to achieve his projects. If you can afford to hire the professionals, have a tool shed built for him in the back yard. It would be a fantastic gesture that would give him his own space and opportunity to get organized.

With the summer approaching rapidly, dad is definitely going to want to fix outdated windows that will help cut costs on the energy bill and add value to his home. Rich Graboyes of Graboyes Windows and Doors has a nice selection of windows that range from EZ tilt windows to fancy Garden Bay windows. The EZ tilt windows make it much easier to clean and maintain. A popular request has been the invisible screens. These screens provide a mesh of screen wire that produce a much clearer view outdoors. As for Garden Bay windows, they catch the attention of many people. They are the alternative to flat windows and can be installed in kitchens and other rooms. These bay windows offer not only a three dimensional shape, but a glass roof as well. You can check out all the info on www.graboyeswindows.com. This website offers many options and lots of background information about this company that has been around for more than sixty years.

Taking the pressure off dad, and handling some of the to-dos on his list is a nice surprise. Clean the gutters to ensure that there is not a build up of leaves and debris that can cause damage. While you are doing yard work, don’t be afraid to transform the yard. For those who enjoy decorating, create a man-friendly atmosphere. A new grill is always a winning gift. If he already has a grill, purchase a smoker and make him barbeque ribs on the big day. Do not forget to give the deck or patio a good power wash. Thompson’s Water Seal is the ultimate value when it comes to preserving your deck. It is the most reliable product to bring your wood back to life. Lastly, line your outside dining area with Tiki torches to add that finishing touch.

Last but not least, fix the most visited room in the house, the bathroom. Does the shower need caulking? Fill in the cracks and replace the liner to nix the mildew look. Look for green products to remove any rust or lime stains. Dispose of the tattered rugs and opt in for new bath mats. Cruise the Home Depot for new sink faucets or basins. Match the knobs and light switch plates to your new sink. Adding a fresh coat of paint will revive the room and highlight the hard work you put into it. Declutter your bathroom and find a home for those girlie products that dad does not want to see day in and day out. Replace your old light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs. Dad will surely appreciate all of the hard work you save him from doing.

Q & A with Rich Graboyes:
Q. What are the most requested jobs right now with your company?
A: Invisible screens, Garden Bay Windows. Tilt windows are requested frequently. They are easier to clean and operate.

Q: Do you have a variety of windows to choose from and do you give estimates?
A: Graboyes has a wide range of windows and doors to choose from. Also, we offer free in-home estimates. For more information, call us at 610-879-7676 and don’t forget to visit our website: www.graboyeswindows.com for extra information and photos of the work we are able to accomplish in your home.
Q: Rich, if you were to receive any home improvement gift, what would you like to receive?
A: I would enjoy a brand new front door; something very stylish. Perhaps accented with some decorative glass; the kind of door that I cannot wait to walk through when I come home.
