Delco’s Own Stephenie LaGrossa on Surviving
By Kim Phillips

Stephenie LaGrossa I had the opportunity to interview Stephenie LaGrossa for the second time! As a big Survivor fan, Stephenie has always been one of my all time favorite players. On Survivor Palau, her first visit to the game, she was the last survivor of her tribe and held down her fort by herself in the middle of nowhere! I was impressed just watching it but when I met her later I was amazed at what a tiny frame she had. She literally used a tree trunk to knock coconuts from a tree!

I knew she went to Prendi and grew up in Glenolden so I was completely intrigued by the show. A lot of viewers enjoyed Steph’s game; during her first season she drew a 97% popularity percentage. She played a great game! For the eleventh season of survivor, Guatemala, Steph was invited back to play again and boy did she play! She really was in it to win it and went to the final two. As all fans know she lost six to one.

When I asked her why the other players voted for the other guy after she played such a tough game she said, “Because when you vote right away you are still voting on emotion. After a week when you’re more mentality into the game not emotionally you really get a good dose of hind site. A bunch of the players from that season have said to me that they should have voted for me. Look at what happened in season 19. Russell should have won but they are voting on emotion at the moment. Anybody that got screwed over votes the other way. (If you are thinking about playing Survivor remember that tip).

Stephenie LaGrossa At the time of this interview Steph was still in the game. Heroes vs. Villains from a viewer’s point of view, she was restricted about discussing anything about the new season and we were all hoping to visit her at her restaurant

(GIGI Restaurant & Lounge 319 Market Street, Phila, Pa 19106, 215-574-8880) after she won a million dollars! Well, her tribe voted her off first! She was a huge threat, the players new it right away. As they landed on the beach and had their first challenge she dislocated her shoulder, popped it back in and acted like nothing happened! Again I was impressed. I guess the other players were as well.

Stephenie LaGrossa Steph was really happy to get the call to play again and has informed her fiancé that the game is a part of her life and if the opportunity arises, she will be a part of the Survivor. Just to prove that as fact- two days after Kyle (Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher Kyle Kendrick) asked her to marry him and she said yes, she got the call for Heros vs Villans and away she went! With only a date for the wedding and no plans! Steph asked me to say “Thanks to all family, friends and neighbors for all your support over all these seasons. Stop by the restaurant maybe I’ll see you there!”
