Exclusive Interview with Kendra Wilkinson

By: Jennifer Faith Stiefel
Kendra Wilkinson Kendra Wilkinson went from being an average girl next door to a famous girl next door overnight. In 2004, the blond bombshell attended Hugh Hefner’s 78th birthday party. Not as a guest, but working on the clock as a body painted hostess. She caught Hef’s eye immediately and the young model became on of the live-in girlfriends at the Playboy Mansion.

While living at the mansion, Kendra became one-third of the cast of The Girls Next Door, working with Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt, Hugh’s other girlfriends. Then came the numerous photo shoots and even a part on the movie House Bunny, working with Anna Faris. Life has changed considerably since the days of parties at the mansion. Kendra is now married to our Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver, Hank Baskett, and has recently become a mother. With her own reality show Kendra, also on the E! Network, the buxom blond is busy keeping up with the ever changing schedule her and her husband lead.

DCM: Hi Kendra! Thank you so much for taking a few minutes to talk with me today. I know you are so busy…afterall aren’t you moving back to Philadelphia?

Kendra Wilkinson: Hi Jen! It’s awesome to talk to you today! Yes, I am coming back to Philadelphia! And we literally just moved back to LA…I’ve only been in this house for two weeks when Hank got the call that he was resigned with the Eagles. We are so happy to come back though!!

DCM: You just moved in to your LA house two weeks ago?

Kendra Wilkinson: Yes, I know and yes, we did. I learned what the NFL really stands for (laughing)…Not for Long!

Kendra Wilkinson DCM: (Laughing). Are you happy to be coming back to the East Coast?

Kendra Wilkinson: Yes, I am! Philadelphia is home to me. I grew up in Philadelphia.

DCM: Wait you did? Is that where you went home to visit your mom on The Girls Next Door.

Kendra Wilkinson: No, I actually grew up in San Diego and that’s where you saw me when I took Hef home to see my childhood house on the show. But, I have so much family in Philadelphia and South Jersey that we visited all the time. It was my stomping ground. My mom was originally from Cherry Hill. She was even an Eagles Cheerleader!

DCM: No way! That is awesome!

Kendra Wilkinson: It is! And it’s so cool that now my husband is one of the players!

DCM: Do you have a jersey already for Hank Jr. or should I send one to you while you are making the move?

Kendra Wilkinson: That’s too funny! I can’t believe you brought that up. We do have a jersey for Hank Jr. from the last time Hank was on the team. But because of our recent move, everything is in boxes and in storage still. We have been rooting through the boxes trying to find the jersey!

DCM: On the reality shows, we have met your mom and your grandmother, can you tell me about your dad?

Kendra Wilkinson: My dad was from Bryn Mawr and we also spent a lot of time in Ocean City, but my parents divorced when I was 8 years old and that’s when mom and I moved to the west coast .

DCM: What is life like now for you?

Kendra Wilkinson: Life is great! It’s hectic, but it’s great.

DCM: Totally different from your days with Hef and the mansion?

Kendra Wilkinson: Yes, it is. I think of my life as in chapters…and I have started a new chapter. I love the life I led and wouldn’t give it up for the world, but I am in a different place now. And here’s the crazy part….I knew I’d be here my whole life. Seriously. When I was younger I would say that I wanted to married with children at 25…and here I am.

DCM: How did you meet Hank?

Kendra Wilkinson Kendra Wilkinson: I met Hank at a Golf outing that we were both involved in. We’ve been together ever since. You know I fully believe that families who play together stay together. Hank and I are both so active, we love sports, and we love to spend time having fun together.

DCM: Do you have a favorite sport?

Kendra Wilkinson: Well, I love The Flyers! I am a hockey fan! And I love basketball too! But my favorite sport is football.

DCM: What do you think of the Eagles?

Kendra Wilkinson: I love the Eagles. Coach Reid is a great coach. Hank is so happy to be back on the team.

DCM: What is motherhood like?

Kendra Wilkinson: I really can’t describe it. Honestly, I can’t. There is so much love there that I need a stronger word. It’s amazing. It’s wonderful. It is the most amount of love you can feel for someone.

DCM: Do you have a house picked out yet in Philly?

Kendra Wilkinson: Not yet, but we are house shopping the area right now. I am looking online, but it so hard with the fact that we literally just moved. I’m not sure where we will live when we get there, but I do know that it will all work out in the end. It always does.
